GameAnalytics Website

WordPress development of the GameAnalytics Marketing Website

In 2020, I developed the GameAnalytics marketing website on WordPress. Having previously worked with the team on incremental updates to their old site, I was entrusted with rebuilding the platform — creating a scalable, user-friendly, and visually impactful experience that aligned with their design system and branding.

Responsibilities

  • WordPress
  • WPEngine
  • WPML
  • PHP
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • Google Tag Manager
  • Google Analytics

Designs were provided in Sketch by a detail-focused design team who wanted their system implemented precisely. To support continuous feedback during development, we adopted Storybook to build and preview components in isolation before integration. This helped streamline design sign-off and development.

GameAnalytics aimed to launch within 8 weeks — a tight but achievable deadline. I divided the site into sections, assigned time estimates, and used these as milestones to track progress, keeping both the internal team and stakeholders aligned.

A Successful Launch

To ensure a seamless release, I used a staging environment on WPEngine to complete a full dry run. This helped identify an unexpected issue that delayed things by 15 minutes. Thanks to this preparation, the actual go-live process went smoothly — reducing expected downtime from nearly an hour to just 35 minutes.

Ongoing Maintenance Over 5 Years

I continued to support the website over its lifespan from 2020 to 2025, during which it underwent significant evolution alongside the company’s growth.

Creating Composable Components

Due to the fast pace of updates, we didn’t always have design resources for each new page. Early on, we built pages using predefined components from the design system. As needs grew more complex, I helped develop smaller, more composable pieces and maintained a living style guide. This allowed the marketing team to assemble visually consistent pages independently.

Sustaining High Performance

At launch, the site was highly optimized — but with WordPress, ongoing vigilance was key. I regularly audited plugins and updates to maintain performance. In 2023, we introduced WPEngine’s Page Speed Boost, powered by NitroPack, which significantly improved our PageSpeed Insights scores and extended the site’s performance longevity.

Conclusion

This project exemplifies my ability to own and evolve a complex product over the long term. From a rapid initial build to sustained improvements over five years, I ensured the GameAnalytics website stayed performant, scalable, and in sync with both the brand and business goals. Collaborating closely with marketing, adapting to shifting requirements, and implementing scalable component systems were key to its success — and the longevity of our partnership is a testament to the value delivered.

I continued to work with GameAnalytics on the main GameAnalytics Tool.
